Piro Spice is a sculptural object that doubles as a countertop spice cabinet. The design, backed by a utility patent, allows the cook to access his or her spices easily, flipping open the cabinet and spinning, as needed. The bulk of the material is a pre-finished high-grade Baltic birch multiply that is intended to withstand rough handling (although you can also be gentle with it!).

The story behind Piro:
The original idea for Piro came from James' need to store, and make accessible, the CDs in his music collection - he already had solutions for the vinyl records and the cassette tapes. After a great deal of tinkering, he came up with a solution, and patented it - see U.S. patent 7,789,473. Alas, in the meanwhile Steve Jobs had come along and marketed the iPad, which put a massive dent in the CD storage business. Thus was born Piro Spice, hopefully useful for quite a while, as humans will continue to need food, and especially good tasting food, for many years to come.
Piro Spice is a must have for people who love to cook. A quick pirouette spins the desired compartment with a particular selection of spices into view. Soon the home chef realizes that its dark storage chambers prevent UV light from damaging the herbs inside, another endearing feature. This design is an expression of joy and utility, joined in a most unusual way.
